134,928 Virginia Workers’ Compensation injuries in 2012

by Chris Booberg on May 08, 2014

Each year the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission releases a statistical report listing the number of filings and benefits paid among many other statistics.  The report is available here.  For the year 2012, 134,928 Virginians suffered a workplace injury that was reported to the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission.  Of the reported injuries, 61,735 were considered to be minor.  That leaves 73,193 Virginians suffering a serious workers compensation injury in one year.

Unfortunately, many of these injured workers do not understand their rights within in the Virginia Workers Compensation system.  Employers who meet certain requirements are legally obligated to have workers' compensation insurance to cover their employees.  The insurers have trained adjusters and lawyers who know Virginia Workers' Compensation law and often to work to deny benefits to injured workers' who deserve benefits.

If you or a loved one is hurt at work, there is no reason to confront the insurance company alone.  Call us for a free consultation.  There is no out of pocket cost for representation before the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission.
